Hi, I'm Adėl Stichweh

I'm a nonbinary artist specialising in African-American dances like
Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and Tap.

I used to work as a Dance Instructor and as an MC at Lindy Hop events. I also led pedagogy trainings and worked as a Choreographer for local schools and at occasional events.I've been a certified Sex Ed Teacher since 2022 and have, since then, worked as a Care Team member or coordinator with the aim to make Lindy Hop events safer and more inclusive.Since I have stopped dancing within the larger community in January 2024, I only work as a consultant. I can help with the creation of safer spaces and other questions regarding the inclusivity of the Lindy Hop community towards Gender-Non-Conforming and Genderqueer people specifically, with the aim to bring comfort to all queer people.I use an intersectional approach, trying thusly the best I can to create spaces that are also inclusive to other marginalised groups.

If you have any questions, contact me!My pronouns are:
they / them / their in English,
iel / læ / iel in French,
and dey / denen / deren in German.

Bio

(Outdated, since I don't work as an instructor or MC anymore.)

Here’s a little text you can use if you need to post a little bio of me on your website or social media:

"Adėl discovered Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz and Tap in 2014 and dropped everything else they were doing: they never felt so free as when they danced Jazz. Adėl quickly became a full-time instructor and dancer. In their dancing, Adėl is looking for rhythm, stability, and focusing on the silence between the notes. Having a solid base allows them to create flowing movements and play with contrasts, so they can express themself freely through movement.Adėl’s aim is to honour the culture of Jazz dance and music in each and every class. Taking inspiration from different elements of their own learning, they work to create an enriching experience based on historical, cultural and musical elements, with social dance and play as the heart of the students’ dancing."

Media

(Outdated, since I don't work as an instructor or MC anymore.)

You can find videos of my dancing mostly on instagram and youtube. On instragram I have mostly some short-format videos, and on youtube mostly long-format ones.
>> my instagram profile
>> my youtube channel

There's also a playlist on youtube with many of my performances (all the ones I could find at least since I started teaching workshops in 2017), so feel free to roam around. The dancing is sometimes quite outdated, but the spirit is there :)

Finally, here are some pictures. I've purchased a licence for all the pictures below, which means that you can download them directly from here and use them to advertise for your event if need be. If there are any problems, let me know and I can send you higher quality versions.Credits for the photos: Eric Bobrie
